According to Tuoi Tre (Dec 21, 2025), Ho Chi Minh City is tightening oversight of service businesses—requiring them to sign commitments against prostitution and online sex trade, with local wards held accountable for enforcement. Recent inspections of over 1,600 establishments led to nearly 300 violations and fines totaling over VNĐ3.4 billion (~US$130,000).
I fully back this move. Vietnam must avoid going down the path of countries where sex tourism, fueled by foreign demand, has exploited vulnerable people and bred related crimes like trafficking and drug addiction. Keeping Vietnam a safe, family-friendly destination is vital—this is about protecting our society, not rejecting tourism.
